Cozad Multi-Generational Lipedema

Lipedema affects 1 in 9 women, yet most people have never heard of it. Even fewer receive a correct diagnosis. Our organization exists to change that.

We educate and advocate for women living with Lipedema a hereditary, hormonal, chronic connective‑tissue disorder that causes an abnormal, symmetrical buildup of painful fat. Lipedema is not typical obesity. It does not respond to diet or exercise. It is misunderstood, underdiagnosed, and often dismissed, leaving women to struggle silently with pain, mobility challenges, and emotional distress.

We are here to bring visibility, understanding, and hope.

How We Help the Community

Awareness saves years of suffering. Through local outreach and community engagement, we help women recognize symptoms, seek proper medical care, and connect with resources that can change their lives.

Our work includes:

• Lipedema Awareness Events
• Educational booths at community activities like the Car Show and Messtival
• Conversations with local churches, businesses, and families
• The Lipedema Fun Run/Walk, bringing people together to learn, support, and move for awareness

Every conversation matters. Every event reaches someone who may have been struggling without answers.

What We Hope to Accomplish

Our goal is to expand Lipedema awareness across Nebraska reaching more communities, more women, and more medical professionals.

Funds raised during Give Big will help us:

• Continue local awareness efforts
• Attend and host educational events
• Provide materials and resources to women seeking answers
• Support statewide outreach so more Nebraskans learn about Lipedema

Most importantly, your support helps fund Lipedema Simplified, a leading organization advancing research, education, and medical training. They recently published the first medical textbook on Lipedema (April 2026) a groundbreaking step toward better diagnosis and treatment.
