What Our Organization Does

Cozad Classics is one of Nebraska’s oldest and longest‑standing girls’ fast‑pitch softball organizations, supporting athletes from 8U through 18U. As a board‑run program, our mission is to build a strong, united softball pipeline that supports girls from their earliest years in the sport all the way through high school competition.

For decades, the Classics have been a cornerstone of girls’ athletics in Cozad — teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and creating a competitive environment where young athletes can grow, thrive, and represent their community with pride.

How We Help the Community

Cozad Classics strengthens Cozad through both athletic development and community engagement. We host seasonal youth clinics, local fundraisers, and — in 2026 — our first annual competitive softball tournament at the Paulsen Sports Complex. That tournament brought in over 30 teams, generating meaningful economic activity for local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.

The Classics are more than a softball program. We are a community builder, a youth development organization, and a source of pride for families across Cozad.

What Our Project Hopes to Accomplish

Our goal is to ensure the long‑standing tradition of competitive girls’ softball in Cozad continues for generations. We want every girl — regardless of age or experience — to have access to high‑quality coaching, competitive opportunities, and a program that believes in her potential.

By strengthening our clinics, expanding tournaments, and investing in player development, we are building a future where Cozad remains a respected and competitive force in Nebraska softball.

How We Have Impacted Cozad in the Last Year

Over the past year, Cozad Classics supported four competitive teams 8U, 10U, 12U, and 18U serving 48 athletes. Through practices, games, tournaments, and team experiences, these girls developed:

• Fundamentals of the game
• Self‑confidence
• Teamwork and sportsmanship
• Physical endurance
• Time management
• Resilience and accountability
• Communication and leadership

Many of the athletes on this year’s 18U team began their journey with the Classics as 8U or 10U players a testament to the strength and continuity of the program.

And their success speaks for itself. The 18U team finished the season as:

• USSSA Class C State Champions
• Cozad Battle of the Bases Champions
• York Summer Classic Champions
• Hays Battle of the Plains Champions
• USA Class C State 3rd Place

These accomplishments reflect years of dedication, coaching, community support, and the powerful impact of a program that invests in girls from the ground up.

How We Will Use Give Big Funds

Funds raised during Give Big Cozad will support our enrichment fund, which helps us:

• Expand youth softball clinics
• Host future tournaments at the Paulsen Sports Complex
• Provide more competitive opportunities for athletes
• Strengthen the long‑term sustainability of the Classics program

Every dollar helps us grow the sport, support young athletes, and continue building a program that represents Cozad with excellence.
