Standing by those who served

Mustafa Noor* (name changed) is a 40-year-old father of six from Afghanistan. He built his life supporting U.S. efforts overseas. Mustafa worked as an interpreter for the U.S. Army and as a Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan. He and his family were forced to flee their home under threat of the Taliban. CIRA provided immediate financial assistance to stabilize the family and began consistent, hands-on support. Mustafa's case manager conducted more than 20 home visits to build trust, connected with his family members, and helped him re-engage with medical care. Although hesitant to pursue treatment, Mustafa's support team led him to a care plan that supported his recovery. 

Mustafa began to re-engage with his community and take steps toward independence. He secured full-time employment as a Store Protection Specialist, obtained a driver’s license, purchased a car, and now supports his family on his own. 

Today, Mustafa is working, providing for his family, and navigating daily life with confidence.

Even after facing danger, loss, and uncertainty, hope can grow when someone is given the opportunity and guidance to stand again.
