Winnie the Pooh was found in a school parking lot in below-freezing temperatures. A good Samaritan heard him crying, wandering through the lot bumping into cars because of severe eye infections that have left him blind in both eyes. We can't imagine how scary it must have been for him or how much pain he must have been in.
They scooped him up and took him to the local humane society in rural West Virginia. He also had a large abscess on his jaw that required treatment. This poor cat was in rough shape all around - but through it all, he has remained the most loving and affectionate. After being checked out by the vet, it was determined one of his eyes would need to be removed.
We hope he'll be able to keep his other eye - with treatment, he might be able to regain some limited vision. Poor Winnie the Pooh will need rechecks after getting his eye out to make sure he's healing and to make sure his remaining eye is responding to treatment. Please help us prepare for every contingency so we're ready to get Winnie the Pooh back on his feet and ready for adoption.
