$500 goal

Hello, I am Jennifer Petzet, Speech-Language Pathologist for ESU10 and Overton Public Schools.

I am hoping to get donations to fund home libraries for our littlest learners.   Having a large home library has been shown to increase school success, increase language skills, and help break the link between poverty and poor academic outcomes.  Studies show that children who grow up without books are on average 3 years behind children from homes with lots of books.  My wish is for each Preschool student in PreK3 and PreK4 to get at least 1 book every 9 weeks.  These books will be sent home with a language lesson and information on reading with children and the importance of reading every day.  The donations would be used to purchase books that are age and grade level appropriate that would help build HOME libraries and promote literacy in our youngest population.
