At Sheltering Hands (formerly Parent-Child Center), our mission is to provide confidential, compassionate support for those impacted by child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
In 2024, we stood beside 140 survivors who experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking. We provided safe emergency shelter for 24 adults and 18 children and connected with survivors more than 1,100 times throughout the year.

These survivors experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
Thanks to our community’s incredible generosity, we can accept donations of clothing, bedding, furniture, kitchenware, toys, and more. Our thrift store, The Purple Door, is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 4 PM. Every purchase helps us provide emergency assistance to survivors and support our day-to-day work.
We also offer free clothing, dishes, and bedding to anyone in need—clients or community members referred by local service providers. It’s just one more way we’re helping people start over with dignity.
