Encouraging kids to read during the summer months by incorporating engaging activities.

$600 goal

Reading during the summer is SOOOO important. Alicia Lassen is the school librarian. However, she doesn't see many kids during the summer and would like to change that.

The Overton Public Schools would like to run a summer library program to get kids into the library at least every other week. The library would work with different programs and presenters to offer virtual and in-person activities to kids in Overton, along with getting them to the library to check out books. There are many excellent, educational things to do in other towns, but bringing them to Overton would allow families easy access. They wouldn't have to travel or take off work for kids to have these experiences.

While programs are fun to do, many of them charge fees. Overton Summer Library Program would like to raise around $600 to schedule presentations, buy supplies, and provide snacks during activities.

In 2021, the Library held five programs. The first brought in fifty-five students. The goal for 2022 is to increase participation throughout the summer and increase the use of the library itself.
