"We know what we are, but we know not what we may be."

-William Shakespeare

With this quote in mind, the Lexington Public Library knows that the possibilities are endless. The Friends of the Library are on board to help the Library reach for the stars and to improve upon the community asset that is the Library.

Friends of the Lexington Public Library is an integral part of ALL that the Lexington Public Library is and does. The Friends of the Library has chosen to complete the renovation of the landscaping at the Lexington Public Library for the year's Give BIG Campaign. More planting of colorful and shade-loving varieties will create an inviting and lovely welcome for visitors to the Library. Working with a professional landscaper, the Friends of the Library hope to round out the project by completing planting on the east side of the Library.

The Lexington Public Library hosts programs and events funded by the Lexington Community Foundation through the Library Initiative Grant. This two-year grant provides up to $10,000 annually to fund cultural, educational, and entertaining programs at the Lexington Public Library.

This past summer, the Library hosted "All Together Now" summer reading activities and events. From a summer concert series featuring Humanities Nebraska performers Oscar Rios Pohirieth, Chris Sayre, and David Marsh to Crane River Theater performing SpongeBob SquarePants at the middle school auditorium, the Library was hopping.

Oscar Rios Pohirieth, Chris Sayre, and Davis Marsh all performed at the Library in July 2023.

The 2nd Annual Street Dance and Community Party held August 4th, was also funded by the Lexington Community Foundation through their grant program.

The Library Initiative Grant also allowed the Library to host monthly Family Fun Nights throughout the school year, and it sponsored the Golden Sower Book Club for middle school students.

These are just a few of the events that happened at YOUR Lexington Public Library.

Always expect the unexpected from YOUR library.
