The Friends of the Library is an integral part of ALL that the Lexington Public Library does. From baking brownies to sell once a month to purchasing new children's computers the Friends of the Library are vitally important to YOUR Lexington Public Library.
This year's project is to complete fundraising for the installation of a Story Walk in one of Lexington's parks. A StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children (and adults) to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Pairing literacy with nature is an enchanting way to read and learn.
A picture book is installed in a permanent story walk frame and the reader is directed to the next pages of the story along the path. The library will change the picture book monthly and feature Spanish, English, and bilingual stories. What a fun way to read!
The Lexington Public Library hosts programs and events funded by the Lexington Community Foundation through the Library Initiative Grant. This two-year grant provides up to $10,000 annually to fund the Lexington Public Library's cultural, educational, and entertainment programs. Thanks to the Lexington community and the Lexington Community Foundation, YOUR Lexington Public Library is a place for everyone to belong, connect, explore, learn, and grow!
