HOMES (Homeless, Orphans, Mothers, Elderly, Sick) is a non-profit that assists with small home repairs and personal items like diapers and shoes. We know that working together improves our chances of building a better future for everyone.

Currently, Lexington's population is 10,404, which is the 16th largest in Nebraska. It is a community with a high poverty level. According to statistical reports, residents with income below the poverty level in 2023 were 19.3%. With the lack of income, most families have difficulty meeting basic needs concerning food, clothing, and shelter. Additional expenses of home repairs and home or family item replacements can be burdensome. Our goal as an organization is to relieve some of the stress by providing needed services.

Our non-profit agency desires to provide household furniture and appliances, diapers, shoes, minor vehicle repairs, and small household repairs in the next year. Financing will come from donations, fundraisers, and partnering with agencies and organizations with similar visions. In the past, we have worked with the Parent-Child Center, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska, Micah's House, Lexington Ministerial Association, local churches, and Lexington Public Schools. These organizations/agencies have provided us with names and contacts of people needing assistance, and we were able to assist those needs. Our goal is to continue working with them in the future with the different services and programs we will be providing.

HOMES continues to partner with Sixpence providing car seats, diaper bags, and diapers from our annual diaper drive, as well as baby formula. We also continue to partner with CASA to provide duffle bags stuffed with necessary items to assist with the transfer of children into foster care. HOMES partners with Plum Creek Marketplace to weekly fill the blessing boxes, which were built and placed around town by Micah's House.
