Enriching the lives of seniors through programs that promote involvement in community life

$10,000 goal

The Lexington Grand Generation Center provides a center where seniors may enjoy opportunities to enrich their lives through programs that promote involvement in community life, promote well-being and independence, enhance dignity and respect, and provide services, assistance, and fellowship.

Past Give BIG donations to the Grand Generation Center have been used for facility improvements and, most recently, an expansion to the donor memorial wall. The Center hopes to use future donations to expand outreach opportunities within the community, add pigeon spikes to the center's exterior to keep it clean, and purchase new equipment for Monday Night Bingo. The GGC also needs to install two new doors on the north side of the building. Due to weather, the doors have expanded and are hard to open, rusting over time.

The seniors have fun doing crafts here at the center. These were Christmas gnomes made out of slippers and fuzzy socks!

We love to celebrate birthdays as well! Our Birthday get-together over coffee for Betty Nelson. Birthday Dinners are on the 2nd Friday of every month.

Halloween Fun! Decorating pumpkins with Seniors!

This was an obstacle course for the seniors to test their balance and strength. The Lexington Regional Physical Therapy Department came in and helped all the seniors who participated.

Crafts include painting ceramics and other fun art projects.

Decorating Valentine's Day cakes is one of our fundraisers for the Center. The seniors love coming in and decorating them. Then, we auction them off to the highest bidders!

Some GGC activities include:

  • In-house lunches Monday-Friday, ($4 Donation Recommended 60+, Under 60 is $6.50). Lunch is served from 11:30 until 12:45
  • Exercise classes and equipment use Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00
  • Foot clinics are on the last two Tuesdays of each month. Blood pressure and blood sugar checks are on the second to last Tuesday of every month
