What Our Organization Does
The Cozad Food Pantry exists for one purpose: to make sure no one goes hungry in Cozad, Eustis, Farnam, and Gothenburg. Hunger doesn’t always look dramatic sometimes it’s a neighbor quietly struggling, a family stretching groceries to the end of the month, or an elderly resident choosing between food and medication. We are here to bridge that gap with compassion, dignity, and practical support.
How We Help the Community
We provide meals and essential food items to individuals and families facing hardship. Beyond weekly food distribution, we also prepare and give out Christmas Baskets, ensuring that families who cannot afford a holiday meal still receive a turkey or ham and the fixings for a special Christmas dinner. These baskets are more than food they are hope, comfort, and a reminder that this community cares.
What Our Project Hopes to Accomplish
Our goal for Give Big Cozad 2026 is simple and urgent:
Feed more families. Provide more Christmas baskets. Ensure no one in our area goes without.
We want to expand our holiday outreach, increase the number of baskets we can give, and strengthen our ability to provide food throughout the year. Every dollar raised helps us put meals on tables and relieve the stress of food insecurity for our neighbors.
Our Impact in Cozad Last Year
Last year, we distributed 129 Christmas Baskets each one going directly to a household in need. This year, we want to do even more. The need continues to grow, and with community support, we can meet it.
How We Will Use Give Big Funds
Funds raised during Give Big will be used entirely to purchase food for families in our service area, including:
- Turkeys and hams for Christmas baskets
- Hamburger meat and other essential proteins
- Additional food items needed throughout the year
Every contribution directly supports families in Cozad and surrounding communities. There is no overhead, no administrative padding just food for people who need it.
