Children's Museum

Give BIG to support families with children in Central Nebraska.

If you are looking for a fun way to spend a few hours with that special little someone in your life, visit the Dawson County Children's Museum. We are full of possibilities. We are open year-round and offer over 15 centers for imaginative play.

If you want to support a place that cultivates creativity and curiosity, consider making a donation to our non-profit organization. Donations received through Give BIG Lexington allow us to keep admission costs low. In addition to being a place for play, we offer educational programs and events.

The mission of the Dawson County Children's Museum is to offer children and adults the opportunity to explore areas of science, math, social studies, and fine arts through free play, hands on exploration, and demonstration.

The museum offers a variety of interactive centers. Children can climb up a treehouse and glide down an indoor slide, search for hidden wildlife while camping, relax and read a story, explore science, create art, put together puzzles, build with Legos, make a pizza, work or shop at a grocery store, dress up, perform on a stage, put on a puppet play, and much more! We also offer an area specifically designed for toddlers. The open floor plan makes it easy for adult caregivers to supervise multiple children simultaneously, with each child engaged in the activity of their choice.

We can be the site of a private birthday party or other special event, with the museum reserved exclusively for you and your guests.

Looking for enrichment? Be sure to attend a themed program on the second Saturday of the month. Programs are based on science, health, culture, or music. Participants are welcome to stay and play in the museum's centers afterward.

Make memories during the holidays through our Polar Express experience. Ride around Lexington to see holiday decorations while listening to the "Polar Express" story. The evening culminates with cookies, hot cocoa, and a visit with Santa.

We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization that strives to offer a safe, clean, fun space for families to come and enjoy time together.
