The Dawson County Agricultural Society has been a fixture in Lexington for over 130 years. From its beginning in 1886 to the many events held today, the Dawson County Ag Society has worked to promote agriculture in this area and is responsible for the growth and maintenance of the facilities that host the annual County Fair, expositions, rodeos, races, and a variety of civic and community events.

The Ag Society has been working to improve the facilities in the past few years by adding new pens to the sheep and swine barns and upgrading the electrical hookups in the beef barn. These improvements will allow for expanded events as the facilities are used by the 4-H exhibitors during the Dawson County Fair and other livestock events throughout the year. In addition, new flooring has been installed, along with other upgrades, in both the 4-H Cafe and the Exhibit Building on the fairgrounds. More recently, we have continued to make improvements to our beer garden area. This building was built in 2018 to the west of our outdoor arena and includes a restroom and shower facility as well as a room with a kitchen sink, refrigerator, and freezer so it's convenient to host many events. In the past year, we have upgraded the grounds to enclose the surrounding area with chain link fencing to complete the security of the beer garden. Scott Russman, a long-time Ag Society director, and his wife, Rhonda have recently donated funds to build a stage in this area which was dedicated during this year's Dawson County Fair with a branding celebration.

This year, the Dawson County Agricultural Society is continuing to raise funds to complete the project at the beer garden including adding a concrete pad to expand the area towards the outdoor rodeo arena as well as installation of permanent picnic tables. The completion of this project will be an exciting addition to the outdoor venue that will benefit many visitors to the fairgrounds. We hope to expand the use of the area for outdoor events such as family reunions, birthday parties, and graduation receptions, as well as continue to host the live music enjoyed by many this year throughout the Dawson County Fair and Nebraska State Rodeo Finals. Please consider this ever-expanding area when planning your next party!
