One of the most enjoyable aspects of fathering Soleil has been watching her learn to express herself creatively through dance. Alexandria's Local Motion Project has played a central role in her growth for the past three years, and the improvement in her stamina and character has been notable. That's why I am helping Local Motion raise money to help local children through their studio and in school programs.
I have noticed changes in Soleil as a result of her dance experiences include the following:
Confidence: Soleil has developed a creative confidence and now uses art to express herself in multiple media, not just dance. She does use spontaneous dance to express herself, but also has developed a parallel confidence in her visual expressions.
Extension: Further she incorporates creative movement in her interactions with people, often using dance or physical movement to illustrate concepts to her friends. She will use visual art to illustrate concepts in her studies now, too, even with math!
Grit: The ability to see something through to the end. Before Local Motion, Soleil would often quit things easily.
This growth makes me proud, as it would any parent. I can't wait to see how she progresses as she continues her tap and modern dance classes.
The Local Motion Project's commitment to teach children creative thinking through dance works. I am asking people to make a $50 donation. Won't you help other Alexandria children like Soleil experience this opportunity to develop their creative thinking skills?
