Support VFW Post 890 this Give Big Cozad
VFW Post 890 is more than a building—it’s a cornerstone of Cozad’s commitment to honoring those who served. From organizing patriotic ceremonies to mentoring youth, our Veterans and their families continue to shape the heart of our community.
Throughout the year, Post 890 leads and supports dozens of initiatives that celebrate service, preserve memory, and uplift those in need:
- Memorial Day Ceremony and Avenue of Flags at Memorial Park
- Bricks of Honor and Monument engraving to honor fallen heroes
- Cozad Honor Guard services for funerals and community events
- Veterans speaking in schools, sharing firsthand stories of service
- Voice of Democracy & Patriot’s Pen scholarships for local students
- Teacher of the Year awards to outstanding educators
- Emergency relief fund for Veterans facing financial hardship
- Rental of the VFW building for graduations, reunions, and celebrations
These efforts reflect the deep dedication of our Veterans—not just to their country, but to Cozad itself.
Why We Need Your Help
This year, our Post building’s air conditioning unit failed and cannot be repaired. Without it, the space becomes unusable for many of our elderly Veterans and community members—especially during Nebraska’s extreme seasons.
The building is regularly used by:
- VFW members
- Cozad American Legion Post
- VFW Auxiliary
- Cozad Honor Guard
- Local families and organizations for gatherings and events
