A New Climbing Wall for Comeca

This Give BIG Lexington, your gift can go twice as far.

A generous donor has offered to match every dollar given toward Comeca's new climbing wall, up to $25,000.

That means if our community gives $25,000, the match provides the other $25,000 needed to fully fund this $50,000 project.

At Comeca, the most important part of a climbing wall isn't reaching the top.

It's what can happen on the way there.

It's a nervous first-time climber deciding to try. It's someone on the ground saying, "You've got this." It's taking one more step when quitting would be easier. And it's reaching the bottom knowing you just did something you weren't sure you could do.

For campers, the wall can create opportunities to talk about courage, trust, perseverance and faith. For churches, schools, businesses, families and other groups, it can become a shared challenge that brings people together.

Comeca's new climbing wall will feature:

• Three different climbing routes so beginners and experienced climbers can each find the right challenge
• An easy route with a positive angle
• An intermediate route featuring a dimensional 3D element
• A difficult route with a negative angle
• Contoured faux-natural rock panels for a more realistic climbing experience
• A TRUBLUE auto-belay system on every route
• A new system designed to integrate with the Wilson Recreation Center's existing structure

The result will be a climbing experience that is more engaging, more challenging and safer than ever before.
